I tackled a new book last week – Make Up, A Life Guide to Beauty, Style and Success Online and Off by Michelle Phan. Although it is geared to a younger generation, Michelle offers great advice on personal branding and maximizing your social media foot print. Most of her advice is common sense, but it’s always a good idea to go back and check your online presence every once in a while and evaluate what’s working and what isn’t. Here are a few of her helpful tips.
*Post things that enhance your reputation, not distract from them.
*Think before you post. Ask yourself, “How does this make me look?”
*Focus on quality over quantity
*Realize that everything you post contributes to how people view you.
*Don’t be one person in the real world and a different person online.
* Social media is about engaging with others. Find ways to create and continue the conversation.
Michelle Phan’s journey is incredible considering she has grown her own personal brand to over a billion followers in a few short years. She is most certainly a modern mogul for the digital age. Imagine if your social media reach could make an impact like Michelle’s – how would you help shape our world? My answer…to be continued…
